Basically, what mouthpiece do you like to use? Which are you interested in trying? What have you tried? What is your preferred mouthpiece and why?

Back in high school I used an old Bach 3c before I saw the error of my ways. My assistant director bought me a UMI Mello 6, which drastically improved things for me. To this day, it's still my preferred mello mouthpiece, but I've heard some really good things about the Curry 1TFs. They're supposed to be a hybrid trumpet/flugel mouthpiece, but they fit and (as far as the grapevine goes at least) play just as well, if not better. I haven't played with one of these, but I'd like to give it a try.

I actually have a Curry 5TF. It isn't bad, I just realized that it's too small for me and it makes the tone too bright. However, it gave me the clearest articulation I've ever had and helped my range (hitting notes above the staff easier). I like it, however I'd like to try something more like a Curry 1TF.

I actually like the Hammond mouthpieces that I got to try at the Bluecoats camp. They were just amazing and felt good. Good articulation and good tone. I want one....badly. Otherwise, I use the mouthpiece that came with the Dynasty I'm using. It works well for all intents and purposes.

Does anyone know what's up with the IYM Corp. Mouthpieces that the cavies use? I've never actually used one but I hear they are really nice. Your opinion on the mouthpiece?

Well, I've heard their praises sung by the Cavies fanboys, and I've heard that they're absolute crap from some other corps' members, but I've never played on one myself. I've heard the Cavies in the lot though, and while I loved their show last year, their ensemble sound seemed like it was very inconsistent from person to person. The mouthpieces don't hold all the responsibility, but I'm sure there's some effect from them in there. All in all, I'd have to play on one before I made a decision, but I'd have to say that I don't think it's the miracle it was hailed to be, otherwise more corps would be using it.

I wonder if they work better for an indoor ensemble or maybe something with a little brighter sound (like orchestra)...

This guy goes really in depth with mouthpieces for the mellophone. Pretty neat.

I just recently received my Hammond mouthpiece. I have to say, it is a bit better than the stock mouthpiece that comes with the new Dynasty horns. It has a much more focused tone, but capable of sounding amazing. The upper register rings a little more. It takes a bit more air, but the payoff is phenomenal. Ariculations are also cleaner. Any tonguing is rounded off in a good way.
